The Inspiring Testimony of Canadian Tim Mercer, ‘Glow Bears’ Inventor

Tim Mercer is a Canadian inventor/entrepreneur whose life and the lives of his entire family were changed forever recently when he acted in faith from his heart to make a gift of 65 Glow Bears to Victory Family Home of Champions, our children's home in Rwanda, Africa.  

Little did he know then that his willingness to help these little orphans would lead to a long-awaited breakthrough in his own family. This is a timeless Biblical principle - we can never out give God… 

Proverbs 19:17 says, He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will pay back what he has given. The Lord will pay back what has been given! He is faithful! 

An orphan spirit is a demonic spirit which, if it is not recognized early on, can infiltrate and attack a person’s thinking on a broad scale, leading them to operate their lives based solely on the (Negative) feelings they have taken into their heart. They certainly don’t realize that they are any different than anyone else, but this belief system of theirs usually leads to the total destruction of families, relationships and confusion about life in general.  

It is not surprising that, when examined more closely, these feelings are almost identical to what many children we minister to in our children’s homes have told us that they feel, hence the term is “orphan spirit”: 

~ Abandonment
~Hopelessness
~Walk as an independent (“I can make it on my own”)
~Don’t allow others to love them
~Controlling others is key to self-esteem
~Unable to commit to anything or anyone, including God
~A feeling of rejection or abuse
~A feeling of not being loved
~Not a team player

 In Tim’s own words, “Little did I know the blessings that were coming my way from being involved with the orphans of the world and your family in Victory Children’s Homes. I didn’t realize it then, but I had lived my life with an “orphan spirit” myself – I left a marriage and three young boys in 1995. I had not seen or heard from my three boys for over 13 years!”   

 “Eighty percent (80%) of my heart was missing during that longest period of my life. But after witnessing the happy faces of those children in Rwanda, God immediately touched me in my heart of hearts where I had thought I could not be touched again. He did a work in me and gave me a brand-new hope, that IN HIM, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! “
