New Project for Rwanda

We're so excited about the plans we have to extend Victory Family, Home of Champions, and we want to share them with you. We are planning on putting a ceiling in the church because rain on the tin roof and sixty children is a noisy combination!

There will be two class rooms built in the church. These will be used for school rooms as we start a Christian School for the kids so they don't have to walk so far and so they can get a better education. They will double for Sunday School rooms on Sunday and other teaching times.

There will be an L shaped extension with a very small court yard in the center as you will see on the drawings. One part of this extension is for the dining room for the kids to eat in, which will also double for a class room. The kids eat in the church right now, because the Minister of Gender would not allow them to eat on the patio out side the orphanage building. If we build a dining room, the children will be able to eat properly, and we will have more space for learning!

The other part of this new extension is for a craft learning center. Presently the sewing machines are stored in the office and are getting in the way of the school teacher, Grace, and others. Our kids are learning weaving, sewing and we want them to learn other crafts as we are able to teach them. It's great to have a room for that. Also, the Mama that comes to teach them and mends their cloths will have a place to work.

Then there is our plan to build a Market Garden and Orchard. We are planning to build this on the land we already own by the corner of the road, which right now we use only to feed our goats. We are thinking of setting up a small market there, to earn a little money (making the orphanage more self-sufficient), and teaching the children valuable business skills. We plan to sell Fanta, crafts the kids make, souvenirs, Rwandese snacks, and fruit we will grow, to passing travellers. Thanks so much!
