Tijuana Dump Christmas Outreach 2009
Tijuana Dump outreach update

Christmas outreach at the Tijuana dump feeds over one hundred and is a blessing to all!

Food, movie, presents and the greatest gift of all shared during night outreach with the people living at the Tijuana dump!

Yesterday marked our first dinner and a movie style outreach at the dump in Tijuana. Over one hundred full time residents came to have a meal and hang out to watch "the Nativity" movie. After dinner we shared a message focusing on the greatest gift ever, God sending his son to be the final sacrifice for sin for all people. Three people received this special gift at the end of the message. PTL!

After the message we brought out the gift boxes donated to us by the California Victory Church. The children were ecstatic! All of the children there received a gift box and we still have more, so we'll be doing another outreach this week to distribute the rest. It was a wonderful night for all and in an area with power, cable, water and other amenities that we pretty much take for granted, being able to take in a movie was a very special event.

Many however, continued to work and search through the dumped loads out in the active dump area. We could see many dots of light out there shining from their head mounted flashlights. You know times are tough when you don't even stop working in the dark to get a hot and healthy meal.

As it turned out, the lady wanting to be baptised was in a Tijuana hospital giving birth, so well be watching for future opportunity to see this happen.

We will be heading back into the dump twice in February, if not sooner, with two mission teams from Canada. It is our hope to expand our activities there by serving early morning coffee, helping to build or improve shanty houses, and then serving a lunch in the living and working areas of the dump.

Baja Missions Feeding Program

After talking with Pastor Guermo from a nearby church, and hearing about his lunch program I went over to see how his program functioned. The kids and mothers come in three waves, the first being the kiddies and the others after being let out of school and then dropped off by the bus right at the church. That was a few weeks ago and it has not been far from my mind and heart since. So, after praying and trusting we have gone ahead and jumped out of the boat and committed ourselves to help out with this ministry one day a week.

We have begun serving up a hot lunch along with a short scripture message targeted at each age group, right here at the mission base. We are praying that some individual, small group, or church will come along and open their heart and finances to sponsor this program. We are going to try and float this ministry on a budget of $150 US per month. If this is a ministry that you would like to partner in, please contact us, let us know what you would like to do, and we'll make the necessary arrangements.

We are taking the left-overs into the hillside neighborhood and giving them to needy families there. Shown above is the nearly one-hundred year old woman who recently received Jesus. More

Baja Mission Base Property

On January 5th, 2009, Cindy and I moved into the new Baja Mission's Base here in Ensenada Mexico! The new base is located on top of a hill in the north area of the city. The property offers an unparalleled view of almost all of Ensenada, the cruise ship port, ocean, and points south.

Work is underway to make improvements and the necessary changes to make the base ready to host our first large mission's group here in April. A small team of workers from the new Victory church in McLennan, Alberta were here in January and a group from Grande Prairie, Alberta will be here in March. They will be making bunk beds, installing a second hot water tank, and installing some lighting, amongst other things as well. The April team, also coming from Grande Prairie will be bringing a commercial stove and a pick-up truck to further enhance our capabilities here.

Victory is Imminent in Ensenada

As we quickly approach hosting our second Victory missions team here in Ensenada, we also have received the news that our latest offer on a property we have been negotiating on has been accepted. Praise the Lord! We hope we can move into the new property mid December and begin to sink roots and shape the stronghold, physically and spiritually.

Construction teams are gearing up to come in and transform this property into a sanctuary from which we will reach out to the people of the community, Ensenada and the Baja Peninsula for Jesus.

Please continue to pray for the property purchase and the work here, as there is still much to overcome.
