Mission to India

VCI Mission to India November 16-28 2009

Where: We will go to New Delhi; Agra and Himalayas.

Purpose of this Mission:

1. The Conference: To train Victory Church leaders from all over India through the teaching of Drs. George and Hazel Hill; Bishop Kelsey Lewis and Dr. Jey and Lizy Jeyaseelan. Conference date is November 19-22, 2009.

2. To dedicate some of the new slum schools in Delhi and Agra to the Lord.

3. To visit the orphanages and sewing schools to assess further expansion and needs.

Our Missions for Women and Children in the slums of India:

Our mission is to reach 30,000 slum women and children by starting schools in the slums that will educate the illiterate. We will take 100 children per school at a cost of $600 a month per school.

We will teach salvation through Jesus Christ and memorization of scripture. We will teach English, reading, writing, arithmetic and life skills in these schools. These schools will be dotted throughout some of the worst slums in this world. Our schools will last for two years for most children, enough time to get them to the place where other schools will accept them for further education. By that time they will be saved, discipled and ready to be used of God to evangelize.

The truth is that Muslims offer free education to all who want to be educated and convert them to Islam. We must reach the world's children for Christ. He is the ONLY truth, the life and the way. We can do this by offering free education which will bring them to Jesus, train them for life, and give them a "Hand up and out of Poverty, rather than just giving them a Hand Out." Not only the children but whole families are saved this way. These schools are lights shining in very dark places.

Victory Thread of Life Project

We also have sewing schools in India for the women living in the slums. One of the worst atrocities I have seen among the Hindus is what they call "Bride Burning."

If the bride cannot bring dowry to her mother in law each year, the mother in law will light the girls clothing on fire and burn the girl to death so the son can marry again and continue on with the dowry payments each year. Dowry can be money or clothes or things for the home, anything material.

I first saw this many years ago in India when I was there. I could not sleep all night. I was sick in my very spirit thinking of these terrible deaths the young girls are suffering in India. Of course it is the poor slum girls that perish this way as their families are too poor to pay dowry. But God gave us a plan.....

We started sewing schools in the darkest slums in India to teach the ladies to sew. As they learned sewing, they also learned about Jesus, accepting Him as their savior. Not only do they get saved, but they now have a skill so they become valuable to their mother in laws and escape being burned to death. As money permits we can buy them a sewing machine at graduation which they can use to start their own little business to bring in money to support their families.

Many of these slum women have my book, "Praying God's Word" in their own language, Hindi or Tamil. We have seen whole villages saved because of these praying women.

Wherever you have women you have children. When we started the sewing schools the women started to bring their children. So we started schools for the children to learn to read and write and of course, to learn about Jesus.

Who would have thought a little thread could be used to save whole slum villages? But God always has a plan.
