Tijuana Dump Christmas Outreach 2009
Tijuana Dump outreach update

Christmas outreach at the Tijuana dump feeds over one hundred and is a blessing to all!

Food, movie, presents and the greatest gift of all shared during night outreach with the people living at the Tijuana dump!

Yesterday marked our first dinner and a movie style outreach at the dump in Tijuana. Over one hundred full time residents came to have a meal and hang out to watch "the Nativity" movie. After dinner we shared a message focusing on the greatest gift ever, God sending his son to be the final sacrifice for sin for all people. Three people received this special gift at the end of the message. PTL!

After the message we brought out the gift boxes donated to us by the California Victory Church. The children were ecstatic! All of the children there received a gift box and we still have more, so we'll be doing another outreach this week to distribute the rest. It was a wonderful night for all and in an area with power, cable, water and other amenities that we pretty much take for granted, being able to take in a movie was a very special event.

Many however, continued to work and search through the dumped loads out in the active dump area. We could see many dots of light out there shining from their head mounted flashlights. You know times are tough when you don't even stop working in the dark to get a hot and healthy meal.

As it turned out, the lady wanting to be baptised was in a Tijuana hospital giving birth, so well be watching for future opportunity to see this happen.

We will be heading back into the dump twice in February, if not sooner, with two mission teams from Canada. It is our hope to expand our activities there by serving early morning coffee, helping to build or improve shanty houses, and then serving a lunch in the living and working areas of the dump.
